Editorial Policy

Independence

Rankings and recommendations are decided by editorial judgment applied to evidence — never by commission rates, advertiser relationships or manufacturer contact. Manufacturers cannot buy placement, preview guides, or request changes beyond factual corrections.

Evidence standard

A claim on this site is either verifiable from the product's own documentation, drawn from owner feedback at meaningful volume, taken from a citable independent source, or observed by us directly — and hands-on observations are only claimed where testing has actually happened, per how we test. Where evidence is thin (a newly released product, a niche configuration), the guide says so instead of papering over it.

Updates and corrections

Product categories move; guides follow. Each guide shows its publication date and, when revised, its update date. Substantive corrections — a wrong spec, a discontinued product, a pick withdrawn — are noted in the guide rather than silently replaced. Found an error? Tell us; corrections are prioritized over all other work.
